Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 August 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Sniffari for your use of the Sniffari app and website. Please read them — especially the sections on safety, GPS accuracy, and liability. By using Sniffari you agree to these terms.

1. Acceptance and eligibility

By downloading, accessing or using Sniffari, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. You must be at least 13 years old to use Sniffari, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live.

2. What Sniffari is

Sniffari is a GPS dog-walking app that lets you track walks, discover and share routes, find dog-friendly places, and connect with a community of dog walkers. We may add, change or remove features over time.

3. Your account

  • You’re responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity under it.
  • Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Tell us promptly at support@sniffariapp.uk if you think your account has been compromised.

4. Acceptable use

When using Sniffari, you agree not to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
  • post content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, hateful, deceptive, or that you don’t have the right to share;
  • impersonate others or misrepresent your connection to anyone;
  • upload viruses, or try to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service;
  • scrape, copy or harvest data (including routes or other users’ content) except as the app normally allows;
  • misuse reporting tools or interfere with other people’s use of Sniffari.

We may remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that breach these terms or harm the community.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you create — your posts, photos, walks and reports. By sharing content in Sniffari, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example resizing images or simplifying route data) and display that content in order to operate and promote the app. This licence lasts only as long as needed to provide the service and ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content others have already shared or copies we must keep by law.

You’re responsible for the content you share and confirm you have the rights to share it. Remember that posts, comments and reports may be public, and that routes shared to the community map are shared anonymously.

6. Safety, the outdoors and route accuracy

Sniffari is a guide, not a guarantee. You are responsible for your own safety and your dog’s safety at all times.

  • GPS, maps, distances, elevation and routes may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Don’t rely on them for navigation, emergencies, or where accuracy is critical.
  • Routes and dog-friendly places are often user-submitted and are not verified by us. Conditions, access rights and rules change — a route may cross private land, be unsafe, or be unsuitable for your dog.
  • Always follow local laws and signage, respect landowners and wildlife, keep dogs under control and on a lead where required, and use your own judgement about weather, terrain and your dog’s ability.
  • Sniffari does not provide veterinary, medical or emergency advice.

7. Third-party services

Sniffari relies on third-party services (including Apple, Mapbox and our hosting provider) and may link to third-party content. We’re not responsible for third-party services or content, which are governed by their own terms.

8. Fees and ads

Sniffari is currently free to use and supported by advertising. If we introduce paid features or subscriptions in future, we’ll make the terms clear before you buy, and purchases made through the App Store are also subject to Apple’s terms.

9. Our intellectual property

Sniffari, including the app, website, branding, and its design and software, belongs to us and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or resell any part of it except as the law allows.

10. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Sniffari and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, or if we need to for legal, security or operational reasons. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licences already granted, disclaimers and liability limits) will continue to apply.

11. Disclaimers

Sniffari is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that content, routes or data will be accurate. Nothing in these terms excludes any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sniffari is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss or damage arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app, from user-submitted content, or from reliance on routes, maps or location data. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Sniffari after an update means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except where your local consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
